Getting Ready For Pokemon Days 2011!

Sept 18th, Stuttgart, Germany

This will be the first real life event I attend to promote Make a Wish GTS. Although most visitors are from the States, I am hoping to get some more visitors from Germany!

So far I’ve prepared:

around 150 physical Giftcards to hand out to random kids (do you think that’s enough?)
an own Black White event distribution (it’ll dish out a different event Pokemon each hour!)
a big poster that I still have to print out

I’ll make sure to post some pictures afterwards! o/

New Version Online

I’d really like some help from you guys to get everything working, so if you see something suspicious, please shoot me an email to gts[at]kanojo.de!

The site also gets an own domain since it’s been running for so long already and it seemed appropriate.

The old addresses will keep working anyhow. We are also underway to migrate the website/GTS server to our dedicated server (but I’d really like to make sure everything’s running smoothly before moving). I’m also heavily working on filling your requests. It’s your choice what’s up for grabs, so keep them coming!

Storage Update 3 – Now onto testing the whole thing

It’s 1:30 am and I have been revamping the giftcode page to be compatible with the Gen 5 events. Nebuk suggested putting part of the new stuff online but I’d really like to have everything up that we’ve been working on.

I’ll list all the updates here. So when it’s done the changes are:

Gen 5 events added
Giftcode page compatible with Gen 4 + 5 (requires no registration)
Get your own Pokemon storage (people who have tried to register so far can activate their account)
Send Gen 4 and Gen 5 Pokemon to your storage
Shift Pokemon from Gen 4 to 5
Redeem giftcode wishes into your account (you will be able to load event Pokemon into your storage)
Load current giveaways into your storage
The settings page will be purged, as your account will take over nicknaming, blocking certain giveaway Pokemon will not be possible anymore but then, you can do that with you account too
No WifiID Staryu (trash Pokemon) anymore, just search for any Pokemon on the GTS and you’ll see your ID (which means now you have to take note of it instead of receiving an actual Pokemon)
Start of Gen 5 giveaways

Did I forget something? The code’s all there but testing still has to be done. I hope I can finish that this week so the major bugs are eliminated before it is released to the public.

Storage Update 2 Almost There

This is something I want to finish before my next exam is coming up.

I’ve been working on this thing restlessly for the last two (or more?) weeks. The GTS is also capable of receiving Pokemon from you GEN 4 (!) game. But you can shift them to BW, edit them in your Gen 5 storage and download it to your BW game.

Because of Black and White I have a LOT more work with the storage to keep the database and your pokemon data consistent whether they are gen 4 or gen 5 or shifted Pokemon.

I will remove the current settings page as the storage will have a nickname feature on its own. If you’d like to nickname giveaway Pokemon in the future, you have the option to load them into your storage and nickname it there. Registered users can also redeem giftcodes within the storage which means you register your giftcode in your account and get an amount of credit, use up those credits by loading event Pokemon into your storage, edit them if you want and download it again. This will be the only method to edit event Pokemon within your storage because the game forbids uploading Pokemon with certain ribbons.

Gamestop Entei/Suicune/Raikou

I don’t know how high the demand for those are, has everyone grabbed their share from the official events? Let me know if you’d like to see something on the giveaway list.

Box system update 1

I’ve begun developing the frontend for the storage system. So far I can see myself running into a lot of problems (like determine which moves are legal and therefore should be made selectable – especially for egg moves which can’t always be bred together) so it will probably take a while. You will also be able to turn off safe edit so you can give them all the moves and impossible stats you want (but by default its on).

But as soon as it is about useable we will be asking for beta testers again!:)

What next?

I have opened this development blog to keep you updated about changes/downtimes and new ideas to improve the GTS.

The Trade Station has now been running for at least two months now (I’m not so sure myself how long it’s actually been). I have to admit, I’m pretty busy with university too and beside breeding new Pokemon I’m wondering whether it’s worth it spending more time on further developing Make a Wish GTS. The first question that arises is: what can be done using the GTS trick?

I am currently proposing a storage system. Please leave a vote (and/or comment) on the poll on the right what you think about it!

It IS possible to upload Pokemon to the GTS, however it is currently not implemented. If you so wish, we can provide a storage for you (don’t worry the server has backups). Giving you the possibility to teach them TMs that you don’t have a spare of or resetting their EVs, leveling, cloning etc can be considered too (and yet again because people are sensitive about it, data will be automatically changed but of course even if the feature’s there, you don’t have to use them if you don’t want).

If more is known about the DPPtHgSs to B/W transfer (and the B/W GTS) we could let people who don’t have access to a second DS transfer Pokemon from their old games to Black White.

There’s a lot of stuff that can be implemented as soon as the GTS upload function/storage is there so I’m mostly interested if you’d like something like that.
